What is PEACE?

You want peace, but peace is an acronym you need to know as part of your dissolution of marriage action, and even in a paternity action. These are factors a court must consider in your case, and in the order the court must consider them. P is Parenting Plan, including issues such as time-sharing, parental responsibility, transportation, travel, holidays, and other child-related issues. If you do not have minor children, you can skip this factor. E is Equitable Distribution of Assets and Liabilities. A, Alimony. C is child support. The second E is everything else, the catch-all provision, which includes taxes, attorney fees, and any other claims in your case. This is not a comprehensive list of everything specifically related to your case, and some of it may not apply at all, but it’s a good start. To discuss PEACE and how it applies in your case, we suggest consulting with an experienced family law attorney.
