Joshua is here to bring you up to speed on Judge’s Discretion and what it means to you

Judges have a lot of discretion, and discretion is a very broad word that essentially means the judge can do almost whatever they want within the confines of the law. There’s a lot of gray areas when you go to court. It’s very important for the clients to realize that while every client, when they go to court or to trial, believes that they are correct, the judges have a lot of discretion to grant or deny something that a client wants, and also grant or deny something that the other side wants, which oftentimes could mean a client might prevail on some of their issues and not prevail on some of their issues. Case law says judges have a lot of discretion in a lot of areas that they face on a daily basis.
