A parenting plan in any divorce case or paternity case is a legal document that sets forth each party’s time sharing with the minor child or children, which parents address would be used for school boundary purposes, how will the parents communicate with each other and communicate with the minor child and also addresses other day-to-day activities when the child is in each person’s care.

So the parenting plan is the operative document that essentially tells the parents when they’re going to see their child, how they’re going to communicate, and how they’re gonna have other rights and responsibilities with respect to their children.
